BCI MOOT COURT COMPETITION 2011
Dear Sir/Madam,
This is to inform you that after considering the difficulties appraised by the Universities, students and the request from various quarters, the Bar council of India Trust has decided to extend the date of registration of teams for the 1st Bar Council of India International Moot Court Competition 2011 from 31st December to 31st January 2011.
The Bar Council of India has further decided to extend the last date for submission of Memorial from 20th January 2011 to 4th February 2011. Therefore, the participating teams are requested to send their memorial on or before 4th of February 2011 by e-mail and the hard copy of the same to be submitted at the time of registration of teams at School of Law, KIIT University on 9th February 2011.

You are advised to reach Bhubaneswar at Odisha by afternoon of the 9th February 2011. Inauguration of the Moot Court Competition shall take place on Wednesday the 9th February -2011 at 5.00 PM in the University Campus. The inaugural function will be followed by draw of lots. It is further informed that your boarding and lodging will be taken care of from 9th to 12th February 2011.
Reception centre will be set up from 8th February 2011 onwards at the Bhubaneswar Railway Station/ Airport for the assistance of participating Teams. The volunteers at the reception centre will commute you to the place where your accommodation has been arranged. Since it is winter season the participants are advised to bring woolen clothes with them as required.

Sibal’s 100-day agenda may promote e-commerce & e-governance
Image by Mikey G Ottawa via FlickrTo tackle the menace of cyber crime, the government will frame and notify rules for data protection and liabilities of service providers under the Information Technology Act as part of the 100-day agenda.
The Rules will be framed in respect of key sections viz 43A (Data Protection), 70A (Protection of Critical Information Infrastructure), 70B (Agency to handle Cyber Security), 79 (Liabilities of Service Providers) relating to cyber security in the Information Technology Act. The Department of Information Technology (DIT) will also prepare three manuals for skill enhancement in the area of cyber forensic, besides drafting a consultation paper for policy on rolling out mobile governance and the Electronic Service Delivery Bill as part of the 100-day agenda.
A national facility for assessing quality of biometric devices for Unique Identification applications will be set up, apart from infrastructure at Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad for testing of large area photo voltaic modules. On the increasing complaints over pesky calls from telemarketers, regulator TRAI's recommendations on ending the nuisance would come into effect from February 1 and without further delay.
For the Department of Post ,has plans to collaborate with leading banks -- IDBI, HSBC and ICICI Bank -- to provide cards (on the line of credit cards) to rural people in order to facilitate non-cash based transactions for purchase of products and services. The card -- 'White label Pre-paid Cards' -- will come with pre-determined cash value and could be operated at merchant locations, ATMs and designated post offices subject to approval by the Reserve Bank of India. On the focus of the new telecom policy, reasonable revenue for government, affordable services to users and robust growth of the sector -- would be kept in mind while framing the new policy. DIT is also working out modalities on attracting investment in semiconductor units and promoting innovation and intellectual property rights. A pilot scheme for providing digital literacy to women, especially in rural areas, will also be introduced during this period. These are really great steps taken by the govt. and will certainly pave the way for the faster growth of e-commerce and e-governance in India but this looks a temporary step. By making changes here and there the problems in cyberspace can not be solved. The long term solution lies in passing the Communication and Convergence bill 2001 after thoroughly overhauling, and upgrading the same. | |
